Security and availability are always considered of highest priority at STRATO. STRATO is the only big European Web host to have passed the rigorous ISO 27001 audit by the German technical control board (TÜV). It proves the Internet service provider’s excellent IT security, data protection and availability. Both data centres are connected to the Internet with the Carrier Routing System (CRS-1) from Cisco Systems and with high-performance glass-fibre cables with a bandwidth of 35 Gigabyte per second.
An elaborate safety concept
STRATO data centres are an online vault for the data of over one million customers and more than 20,000 dedicated servers. Usually, only banks and insurance companies adhere to standard ISO 27001. Accordingly, STRATO pays meticulous attention to security.

High performace and energy-efficient hardware
STRATO places great emphasis on quality, thus only cooperates with internationally renowned hardware producers. In cooperation with Network Appliance STRATO developed a highly intelligent storage structure that grants immediate access to all data. However, not only performance constitutes a key selection criteria, energy efficiency counts as well. The shared Web hosting platform in Karlsruhe with Sun Microsystems T2000 servers conserves up to 90 percent of energy on the CPU level as compared to its predecessor.
Professional security features for all customers
STRATO makes sure that the customers’ data is completely secure in the data centres. The Web host, however, also appeals to its customers to store all important data in its data centres and equips them with useful tools to do so, for example:
- The STRATO BackupManager copies selected data from one’s hard disk to STRATO’s Web servers.
- STRATO BackupControl backs up one’s Web space as soon as the content is altered. The client can access and restore up to ten different versions of the Web space via FTP.
- STRATO SecurityScan detects open ports and security leaks in software packages and provides information on their nature.
