European launch of AMD processors hosted by STRATO: more performance per Watt
Berlin, 13 November 08
In cooperation with AMD, STRATO starts up the first servers with the new generation of Quad Core AMD Opteron™ processors. More than 50 journalists witness the launch in STRATO’s Berlin data centre. The new processor generation excels as it offers more performance per Watt by adjusting its energy intake according to load. Internet Service Providers such as STRATO will especially benefit from the board, as server workloads can vary tremendously.
Europe’s second largest Webhost has sucessfully deployed highly efficient AMD Opteron processors in virtual and dedicated servers. „We have chosen these processors since they perform well while using little energy“, says Julien Ardisson, CTO of STRATO Rechenzentrum AG. „We’ll have no trouble switching to the new server generation. Energy intake as well as cooling requirements will remain more or less the same.”
„We enable our customers to upgrade their systems as is the case with STRATO. They approached us as a classical customer, became development partners, and now, we are launching a new generation of processors together. We are truely glad to have found such a valuable partner“, says Marco Piattelli, Director Business Develpoment EMEA at AMD.
STRATO and AMD both develop new products and engage in The Green Grid to make IT more energy efficient.
