How do I download my log files?

1. First log in to your STRATO package in your password protected Customer Service Area.

2. Under the menu option and you will see buttons with a list of dates from the last six weeks. (If there is no button then there are no statistics for that day).

3. Enter the start and end dates for the statistics you require.

4. Then press the button underneath the enquiry date. Your personal log file will be produced, ready for downloading.

5. On the next page the selected period and the size of the file are shown, along with: "Click here to download the logfile in GZIP format."

6. Click on the word here to save the data.

7. In order to unpack the file in Windows, start your zip program (e.g. WinZip). The program will ask you how you would like to unpack the file. That means you must add the appropriate file ending (extension) yourself. (e.g. .txt, .doc, .xls). The file will then be unpacked to correspond as txt (text file), doc (Word file) or xls (Excel file).

Mac OS X users can just double-click the zipped file to unpack it. Press control then click on the unpacked file, and select "open with" to choose the preferred program to open the file with.

We recommend that you use a log file analysis program to evaluate the log file because the file often consists of rather unclear letters and numbers. If you open this file with a text editor it will look like the following example:

If you don’t already have a log file analysis program, a Google search will find plenty of options for you, many of which are free to download and simple to use.
